Through debates,information-sharing workshops, public policy forums, popular education, radio, and other media on gender equality, gender implications of policies, instruments for women’s empowerment and protection of their human rights.
To publicise government’s international commitments, disseminate knowledge of women's rights' instruments and document the gap between government commitments and the reality of women's lives in the region.
To gain wider support and broad acceptance of women's rights and gender equality, we shall use the media to highlight women's experiences of governance and gender-sensitive strategies for improving women's participation in governance. We shall also use the media to highlight the gender implications of poverty, governance, conflict and ICTs.

- Analysis of Political Parties and Their Women's Wings: The Case for Strengthening Women's Capacity. Following a brainstorming meeting with women from political parties in Ghana on July 19, 2005 on the theme, “Working through political parties to enhance effective women’s participation in politics”, it was realised that a programme to build the capacity of women in the parties was critical. A needs assessment was therefore conducted to provide the basis for the capacity building programme. The full analysis of the assessment is highlighted above.
- Research into the performance of women in the 2004 elections. Following the 2004 presidential and parliamentary elections which saw only 25 women elected to Ghana's 230-member Parliament, ABANTU with funding from Ibis West Arica / USAID conducted a research into the performance of women in those elections. The full research report is highlighted above.
- Evaluation of Gender Forum, a Radio Programme on Uniiq 95.7 FM. Under ABANTU for Development’s functional area of Advocacy, Public Awareness and Networking, a two-year radio programme aimed at enhancing the capacities of women to articulate their concerns from a gender perspective was implemented and broadcast from January 2001 to January 2003. The programme sought to utilise the radio as a channel for reaching out to women, their organisations, as well as interested persons in the public on issues about gender relations and socio-economic development. Highlighted above is the report of an external evaluation of the programme conducted in March 2004.
