REBECCA QUAICOE

Rebecca Quaicoe is a Christian worshiping with the Holy Spirit Cathedral Catholic Church. She is a married Nzema woman born on November 7, 1976 in Accra. She holds a GCE ordinary and advanced level certificates and a Diploma in Journalism and is a reporter on women and children issues at Graphic Communications Group.

Most of the stories she has made attracted the needed attention they deserved. One she talked about was a story on the need to set up a fund for the Neo-Natal unit at korlebu. The ministries of women’s and children’s affairs and health, following that story in 1995, set up a fund to that effect. She hopes to be doing more of such stories to bring to the lime light issues relating to women and children and hopes to move beyond just reporting into something higher. She prays for prosperity financially and religiously for her family.

She wants to see more women educated on how to fight for their rights. She is of the view that equal representation of men and women in the formal sector wont be possible unless in parliament or laws are implemented to effect that. If women do not allow social pressures to weigh them down and are able to work harder to attain high academic laurels, she hopes that will get them into high social standing to compete fairly with their men counterparts.

In future, she hopes Ghana will be more prosperous economically and socially with a better educational system in place.
