Portia-Mary Agbozo

Portia-Mary Agbozo is a 37 year old Catholic woman who hails from Afife in the Volta Region of Ghana. She has two dependents and teaches Home Economics at Kinbu Sec/Tech School (Accra Central).

She shared that it was not that easy for her through her schooling because at a point in time at the Training College she has to fry ‘Kose’ for sale to support her education since she has the determination to make it.

She holds a Bachelor of Education (Home Economics) degree from the University Of Education Winneba. She was the Girls’ Prefect at Akatsi Training College for the 1990-1991 academic year. In her local church, she is spiritual leader Ewe Union and liturgical chairperson. She does also sell Soya milk to cushion her finances.

Teaching aids are not available in the school therefore she suggested that government should allocate some money to take care of that and if possible provide montage for housing for the teachers.

Our Lord Jesus Christ is the one she draws strength for life.

It is her desire that in the near she will be a source of inspiration to the youth, a good mother and wife then train the family to be an outstanding one. Her word to Ghanaian women is that the young ones should be up and doing that before they get married they would have acquired skills thus not depending on the men. She also advised them to desist from premarital sex which create problems like streetism and control their feelings which makes them human. They should however strive to excel in every position they find themselves since they are not different from the men.
