Women in the Media
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Nana Aba Anamoah
Nana Aba Anamoah is a Catholic and a single parent with two kids. She is a reporter and reader of TV3 news. She had her basic and Junior Secondary education at Alsyd Academy and continued to Ghana National College for her Secondary School education, she did journalism at Ghana Institute of Journalism (GIJ) and is currently pursuing a banking and finance course at Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA).
The covering of the 2004 elections was a lifetime experience she will never forget. It gave her a lot of experience and exposure. She had to stay aware and awake for two days without sleep. She is humbled when she does rural reports, because that reveals the real state of the economy and she learns a lot from the rural folk.
Seeing the needy inspires her to put up such stories relating to their fate so they get help and to see her son at a better position inspires her to work even harder. She hopes to be a business reporter, pursue international relations and work in a Multi-National Company. She wishes Ghanaian women will be more independent and work for their livelihood so men would appreciate them better and see them as equals. She hopes gender-friendly laws will be enacted in Ghana so women could also get to high places of decision-making.
