Grace Clottey-Mensah, Amasaman Electoral Area

Grace Clottey-Mensah is a nurse-midwife who wants to become the assemblywoman for the Amasaman electoral area. She has lived in the community for fourteen (14) years. She is in the contest with two men in the community. She believes she will win the elections because her campaign message addresses issues in the community and thus appeals to the people. She campaigns by using posters, handbills and moving from house to house to speak to individuals.
Grace believes that the community has to move ahead in terms of development since it has not seen any progress for a long time. Her community is faced with a lot of health problems including buruli ulcer, skin infections, cholera and malaria, all of which are the result of bad environmental sanitation. Refuse is dumped at the market site and private water tank owners sell untreated water to the inhabitants since they do not have pipe borne water. The available toilet facilities are also inadequate. There are also no street lights in the community, making it unsafe to move around in the night. In addition, the roads in the community are bad, yet heavy trucks carrying sand and stones ply these roads frequently, even at night.
