Gifty Osei Boakye

Gifty Osei Boakye is a 26-year-old journalist who goes out for stories and presents the news as well. She worked as a youth presenter at age 21 and then moved to the newsroom at 23.

She started work as a radio presenter at age 18 at Shaft F.M in Obuasi. She went to the GIJ for a Diploma course in journalism and is currently at Central University pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Human Resource Management. She hopes to be a journalist specialized in Human Resource Management.

Throughout her working life at TV3, her greatest challenge has been to get the best for viewers; pictures tell stories so they must move together.

In future, she would want to own a media house, where she would do news stories and sell out. She hopes to get into advertising as well and then into Public Relations.

She feels society is to blame for the sidelining of women and hopes that in the near future women in Ghana will be independent of men and not see marriage as the only means of survival or as the ultimate in life.

She hopes Ghana will reach the middle-income status to reduce poverty.
