Christine Dadzie, Bubuashie, Accra

Christine Dzadzie, middle and behind two daughters

Christine Dadzie (sitting behind her two daughters) comes from Dzodze in the Volta region and lives at Bubuashie, a suburb of Accra. She is thirty-five years and has three children. She sells batik and tie-dye which she produces herself, at the Kaneshie Market in Accra. She started this business four years ago when her husband decided to further his education and they needed to find extra funds to pay the children’s school fees and take care of other expenses. She saved some money over a period of time to raise the capital for her business. She is supported by her children when they are on vacation and during weekends. According to Christine, the business is good but she cannot access funds for expansion.
